Quick Facts THE BEGINNING: Started June 1969 in the family garage located at 1524 Brevard St. The company initially employed five -- a family affair that included Herschel & Ruth Black and their three children, Greg, Carey and Tonja. Start-up capital for the young company was $500 (cash). CLAIM TO FAME: Produced a condensed version of the modern-day sleeping bag and successfully marketed it locally to football fans as the famous "SNUG BUG" stadium bag (kept fans lower extremities warm in football weather). MOVING UP IN THE WORLD: Following the success of the stadium bags, the company then began producing a lightweight vest and eventually expanded its operation to its present location at 210 Ross Street in Hereford, TX.
